The rainfall warning issued for Windsor-Essex County Sunday has been lifted by Environment Canada.

After 24 hours of heavy rain, which was forecast to top 80 millimetres by Sunday afternoon, the weather will start clearing overnight.

Through the day there were reports of flooded fields and several traffic lights flashing red at all four stops. Windsor police said the faulty lights were most likely due to a power outage, but there was only one minor incident that could have been caused by the faulty traffic lights.

In Tilbury, 400 homes and businesses are without power, according to Hydro One.

The heavy rainfall was caused by a low pressure system moving south of Lake Erie, bringing almost 30 mm of rainfall and winds that gusted to 60 km/h on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

On Monday the forecast is mainly cloudy and a high of 15 C.
