Amherstburg police are looking for the hit-and-run pickup driver who side-swiped a car before speeding away.

The collision occurred Friday around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Alma Street.

Police said it was a newer silver truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado. It had oversized tires and tinted rear windows with white decals. One of the decals is possibly a large “H.” Witnesses told police the truck might also have a black roll bar in the bed.

Police said the truck may have damage along the right side including the front right tire and rim.

When the collision happened, police said, the truck was speeding south on Howard. A blue 1994 Oldsmobile Supreme headed in the same direction was in front of the truck.

The 23-year-old Oldsmobile driver, who had two friends with her, stopped to turn east onto Alma.

Police said that when the car stopped, the truck overtook it at a high rate of speed and side-swiped it.

The truck then accelerated away, continuing south on Howard.

Anyone with information can call Amherstburg police at (519) 736-2252 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-8477. You can also submit a tip online at http://www.catchcrooks.com.
