Fahrhall Mechanical Contractors Ltd., was awarded a $2-million contract Wednesday by county council for the replacement of the heating and cooing systems at Sun Parlor Home for Senior Citizens.
The county-run facility is more than 25 years old and has various heating and cooling mechanisms that date back to the previous facility that was constructed in 1967, said Robert Maisonville, director of corporate services.
Maisonville said the key components of the job include replacement of 15 custom rooftop HVAC units, four packaged rooftop HVAC units, two hot water heating boilers and two distribution pumps.
Building automation systems and duct work will also be replaced. Three new split air-conditioning systems and replacement of windows in the auditorium will also be done.
It’s anticipated the project will begin in September, with work continuing through to year’s end. Funding will be provided from the corporation’s capital reserve — facility renewal fund.
