Trustees have approved building a new $32-million high school in Leamington to replace Leamington District Secondary School.

Subject to final approval by the Ministry of Education, construction will start in the spring and be finished in July 2017, according to a report to the board, which approved the project Tuesday night.

It will be located on 19 acres on Oak Street West, about a half-kilometre away from the existing school on Talbot St. East.

The 121,000-square-foot school will have room for 1,000 students and will include six science rooms, 27 regular classrooms, four computer rooms, a theatre area and a triple gym. It will have two storeys.

The Ministry of Education has to approve the project before it can be sent out for tenders.
