Raffaele Meo has been selected as Windsor and Essex County’s Italian of the Year.
Since 1980, the Giovanni Caboto Club has been selecting a recipient for the award. The call for nominations goes out in early spring and the short list goes to a review committee. Last year’s winner was Frank Moceri.
Meo owns and operates Meo and Associates, an engineering and consulting firm in Windsor. He is also president and CEO of Virpina Development consultants and president of Seven Lakes Golf Course.
Award chairperson John Bonato said the committee is looking for the “best all-round candidate” — someone who has broken all the barriers and exemplified the Italian culture in the community.
“This is a major honour,” Bonato said. “It’s very touching and emotional for the recipient and their family.”
Meo will be honoured on March 5 at the Caboto Club. Tickets are available at 519-252-8383.
