The local Movember campaign has raised $219,545 for prostate cancer research.
While the national campaign dropped from $24 million in 2014 to $14 million in 2015, Grow On in Windsor and Essex County raised more than the nearly $200,000 raised in 2014.
Proceeds will go to the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre.
“The key word that makes us different … local,” Houida Kassem, manager and director of development for the foundation, said in a news release.
“We want to make sure that the funds raised in support of searching for a cure and treating this horrible disease are being used right here in our home town.”
The campaign was sponsored by Lisa and Brian Schwab, WFCU and Pendopharm.
