To help celebrate and encourage the growth and development of markets for foods grown and made in Ontario, Amherstburg’s Farmers Market will host cooking demonstrations, food samplings and other fun food-related activities during Celebrate Ontario Local Food Week June 2 to 8.
Anne Rota, Amherstburg’s manager of tourism and culture, said Taste of the County local food week events will take place June 3 at 3 p.m. at Toddy Jones Park and June 7 at 9:30 a.m. at the Malden Community Centre.
Rota said there will be local product cooking demonstrations and vendor sampling, along with wine recommendations, a market dollar giveaway, recipe handouts and a colouring contest for kids.
The Farmers Market is open Saturdays (8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and Tuesdays (2 to 7 p.m.) through Oct. 11. Vendors sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, fresh fish, baked goods and more.
