County council on Wednesday approved $3.2-million in road rehabilitation work on seven county roads.

Council approved recommendations from county engineer Tom Bateman for two tenders – one for cold in place recycling with expanded asphalt and one for hot mix asphalt resurfacing.

Bateman explained that the expanded asphalt process takes the existing asphalt surface, grinds it on site and then re-lays it on the roadway.

All seven sections of road will get both treatments.

Coco Paving was awarded the tender for the cold work – worth $814,470, while Mill-Am Corporation will do the hot work at a cost of $2,394,850.

The rehabilitation project includes County Road 7 from Kevin Street to Laurier Parkway, County Road 8 from Graham Sideroad to County Road 31, County Road 10 from the 4th Concession to County Road 5, County Road 12 from County Road 23 west 1.9 kilometres, County Road 19 from Pike Creek to Highway 401, County Road 29 from Road 2 to County Road 18 and County Road 34 from Highway 3 to Olinda sideroad.
