If you want to help out Mason Macri in his battle with a rare form of cancer, head to the movies Sunday morning.

A special screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday at Lakeshore Cinemas, with proceeds going to the three-year-old’s family to help offset their expenses as they travel to specialists in London, Toronto and Houston.

“Let’s help Mason on his next mission,” says the fundraiser’s promotional material, referring to Mason’s love for comic book superheroes and his year-long fight against rhabdomyosarcoma — a rare cancerous tumour that appears in the body’s soft tissues.

The fundraiser is being organized by Bob Bacon and Jacquie Winand-Bacon, who are uncle and aunt to Mason’s mom Chantelle Bacon. Call Bob (519-818-9010) or Jacquie (519-818-7530) to reserve tickets, which are $15.

Mason’s dad Iain Macri said the family continues to be overwhelmed by the community support for their son. On the weekend, a crowd of Lakeshore firefighters arrived at their home in fire trucks and made Mason an honorary firefighter.

“That was great,” said Iain. “He’s had a great weekend.”
