A collision between two pickup trucks at a county intersection near Kingsville resulted in the death of one man Friday morning.

Essex County OPP said the fatal crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. Friday where Road 6 East meets Graham Side Road.

The vehicles involved were a burgundy Ford F-150 and a blue Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71.

Investigators believe the Ford was northbound on Graham Side Road while the Chevy was westbound on Road 6 East.

Graham Side Road has the right of way at the intersection. Stop signs are posted for Road 6 East.

The force of the collision sent both vehicles off the road and into a field at the north west corner of the intersection, knocking a hydro pole askew in the process.

The Ford truck took heavy damage to its passenger side. The Chevy truck had front end damage.

Police shut down the intersection for more than six hours while investigators studied the scene. A hydro crew was also required to repair the damaged pole.

Roadways were re-opened around 3 p.m.

Details have yet to be released about the deceased or the cause of the collision.

But later Friday, OPP Western Region advised that “driving requires your full attention,” and noted that statistics show most serious collisions happen during bright, sunny days.
