To help lower Windsor’s still-not-too-desirable jobless rate of 7.7 per cent, LucasWorks has been working overtime to bring businesses and their ideal employees together.
Founded in 2004, this Windsor-based recruitment company has worked with thousands of prospective employees and businesses of all types, to find their matches in each other.
“We essentially work as the middleman in employer/employee relationships,” says LucasWork’s founder, Maureen Lucas. “It can be hard for businesses to find those who best suit them — and tough for prospective employees to reach out to these businesses.”
Each year, Windsor’s LucasWorks branch helps approximately 100 companies and 500-600 people appropriately fill positions. According to Lucas, roughly 50 per cent of those who are hired are kept on permanently.
Lucas says she attributes these success rates to putting the businesses and people first and taking the time to assess their needs and abilities individually.
“When a company goes to hire, they don’t always have the time to reach out to exactly who they need to,” says Lucas. “To eliminate stress for them, we do all the screening and reviewing of candidates so the hiring process goes smoothly.”
Likewise, candidates need only go through them to be referred to their companies of choice, rather than having to seek them out individually.
To better help people find jobs, LucasWorks will be holding a travelling job fair until the end of September to better reach out to people in Essex County.
“This is just another way we can better service Windsor-Essex, as we’ve been doing for 12 years.”
