The driver of a truck that slammed into the Consulate of Mexico building in Leamington on Sunday has died, say OPP.
Ronald Graham, 84, of Leamington, succumbed to injuries he suffered when the black Dodge pickup he was driving collided with the building at 350 Highway 77 around 5:25 p.m.
Graham was the only occupant of the automobile. Provincial police said no other vehicle was involved.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. OPP said the cause was still undetermined.
According to police, the truck was travelling west on County Road 33 when it left the roadway.
The vehicle crossed about 400 metres of bean field before it struck the rear wall of the Consulate of Mexico building.
No one was inside the building at the time.
Alberto Bernal Acero, the Consul of Mexico in Leamington, offered condolences to the family of the deceased.
“I wish to send the solidarity of the staff and officers of our office to the relatives and loved ones of Mr. Graham in these terrible moments,” Acero wrote.
