A 30-year-old Amherstburg man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning.
Amherstburg police said the man was travelling westbound on County Road 18 on a skateboard when he was struck by a 2011 Ford Focus around 6:40 a.m.
Police said the driver of the Focus, a 23-year-old Amherstburg man, was travelling eastbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle and struck the skateboarder in the westbound lane.
The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead on scene while the 23-year-old driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Amherstburg police said poor visibility from the heavy fog on Thursday morning is believed to be a factor.
County Road 18 was closed between Concession 4 Road South and Meloche Road until about 12:20 p.m.
