Get your snow shovels out. Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning, advising of a possible total of 10 to 20 centimetres of snow from Saturday evening to early Monday morning.
The warning is for Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent. Earlier Saturday, Environment Canada also issued a special weather statement.
The snow is coming thanks to a low pressure system brewing in Colorado, the alert said. The system is expected to move towards the central Great Lakes later this weekend and hit southwestern Ontario Sunday. On Saturday morning it looked like most of the precipitation in the forecast will fall as snow with the possibility of rain early Monday morning especially near the shores of Lake Erie. Sunday is expected to have a high of 0 C.
Police in Windsor and Essex County were busy dealing with the first snow and the results of slippery roads Thursday. Police usually caution drivers to stay off the road if possible during winter storms or to slow down and leave yourself extra time to get to your destination.
