Unseasonably cold temperatures have led to a frost advisory for Windsor-Essex farmers on Monday morning.
Environment Canada’s weather office issued the advisory for this region, Chatham-Kent, and other areas around 4:20 a.m. when thermometers dipped below the freezing mark.
According to the agency, conditions were frosty enough to be potentially damaging to some crops.
The air was expected to rise above freezing quickly after sunrise. But below-zero conditions are predicted to return Monday night and early Tuesday.
Farmers have been advised to take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive crops such as grape vines.
As of 8 a.m. Monday, the temperature at Windsor airport was 4 C.
