Flooding has been happening along parts of the Leamington shore, warns the Essex Region Conservation Authority.
A recent bout of wet and windy weather has resulted in waves overtopping breakwalls, shoreline erosion, and some roads and properties being inundated with the waters of Lake Erie.
ERCA advised that shores west of Point Pelee National Park, between the park and Leamington Marina, have been particularly impacted, as well as parts of the western shoreline of Pelee Island.
With Wednesday’s forecast including winds gusting up to 80 km/h, ERCA felt it prudent to warn the public to avoid the problem areas, or use extreme caution when travelling through them.
In addition to the flood warning, the flood watch that ERCA issued on Tuesday was extended for Kingsville and Essex until Thursday morning.
