A blaze that gutted a barn in Leamington on Christmas Day was caused by a heat lamp in a dog house next to the barn, say firefighters.
Leamington Fire Services responded around 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 25 to a property in the 700 block of Mersea Road 8.
They arrived to find the barn structure already in flames.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area of Mersea Road 8 and Highway 77 while firefighters dealt with the scene.
The fire was brought under control by 5:30 p.m.
Damage has been estimated at $60,000. No residents or pets were hurt.
