If you’ve been enjoying the freezing rain Windsor-Essex has been experiencing in recent weeks — Great news! We could be getting more of it.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the city and region on Monday describing the potential for freezing rain on Wednesday.
According to the federal agency’s meteorologists, a low-pressure system from Texas looks like it will track towards the Great Lakes on Wednesday — resulting in precipitation for all of Southwestern Ontario.
It’s predicted that the weather will begin as snow on Wednesday morning, quickly change into a period of freezing rain, and eventually become regular rain late in the day.
“Untreated surfaces, such as roads, walkways, and parking lots could become icy, slippery, and dangerous,” Environment Canada noted.

Temperatures on Wednesday should hover around the zero mark throughout the day and into the night.
Meanwhile, The Weather Network described the incoming mid-week weather as a “sneaky system” that will likely bring snow to the rest of the province.
With mild air surging up from southern parts of the continent such as the Gulf of Mexico, and cold air from the northern parts of the continent continuing to hunker down, Ontario could become a battle ground for messy systems in the middle of the week and into next weekend.
