Ontario Provincial Police busted six local men for drunk driving this holiday weekend.
Just after midnight on Sunday, OPP received a report of a vehicle that struck a house on Bruce Avenue in Leamington. No one was injured and police arrested a 31-year-old Leamington man at the scene. The driver faces charges of impaired driving.
Around the same time on Sunday, Essex OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on Maidstone Avenue. A 40-year-old Essex man was arrested and charged with drunk driving.
Shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers found a man slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle on King Street West in Harrow. A 19-year-old Essex man was arrested and charged with a drunk driving-related offence.
Later in the day, around 4:40 p.m., officers in Leamington pulled over a vehicle on Conover Avenue. A 58-year-old Leamington man faces charges of impaired driving.
Earlier in the weekend, police made two arrests. On Friday around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a collision at Essex County Road 46 and Essex County Road 19.
One vehicle involved in the crash left the scene but was stopped a short distance away. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. A 55-year-old Windsor man faces charges of impaired driving.
Also on Friday, officers received a report of an erratic driver travelling east on Riverside Drive around 6:40 p.m.
Police said the driver stopped at a convenience store and handed his keys over to the clerk. A 50-year-old Tecumseh man was arrested and faces charges of impaired driving.
