After missing the chance last year, Tourism Windsor Essex has joined a popular Southwestern Ontario alliance that promotes hot spots for motorcycle enthusiasts.
The tourism alliance called Ontario’s South Coast last year featured four counties on the shores of Lake Erie, but not Essex County – the nation’s most southern locale.
The CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex, promised last year this area wouldn’t be left out. He followed through and joined the alliance. The campaign started this month.
The alliance was formed almost solely to attract motorcycle tourism. It’s main feature is the Cruise the Coast map which highlights points of interest and restaurants, offers driving directions and suggests several cruise routes along the Lake Erie shoreline.
Along with Essex County, Oxford County has also joined this year, making it six regions in total. The others are Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Elgin County and Chatham-Kent.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with five other Ontario counties this year to bring riders a fantastic new map, as well as hundreds of additional beautiful kilometres of vistas to explore,” saidGordon Orr, CEO for Tourism Windsor Essex.
“Looking at the map, there are now multiple destinations all the way from Windsor-Essex to Haldimand County — eight routes to choose from, all of varying lengths and experiences, including the monster Cruise the Coast route that will take riders eight hours to enjoy.”
The maps are available at all Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island locations – the Regional Tourism Information Centre on Huron Church Road, the kiosk in Caesars Windsor and the main office downtown on Pitt Street West.
