Drivers are asked to be extra vigilant on the road as students head back to classes this week, according to a message from the head of the regional trauma unit at the Windsor Regional Hospital.
Drivers are asked to obey school safety zone regulations, reduce their speed and avoid any distractions that can cause accidents, said Diane Bradford, manager of the regional trauma program.
Vehicular accidents are the second-leading cause of major injury in the Windsor area, which means there is potential for increased accidents as children return to school.
