Provincial police have arrested and charged an Amherstburg man with 18 sex-related offences involving a nine-year-old boy.
Carlo Salvitti, 48, was taken into custody on Thursday by members of the major crimes unit of Essex County OPP.
According to investigators, the alleged incidents took place in the years 2009 and 2010.
The male victim’s age given by police is relative to the time the crimes allegedly occurred.
Essex County OPP spokesman Const. Kevin O’Neil said a complainant contacted police in October.
The charges are as follows: eight counts of invitation to sexual touching, four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference, one count of producing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
A police statement on the arrest only mentions one victim. The relationship between the victim and the accused has not been disclosed.
At press time, Salvitti remained in custody pending a bail hearing.
