When the Meloche family were at their father John’s bedside in palliative care at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital, they recognized the need for a way for family members to get refreshments without leaving their loved one’s bedside. After John Meloche passed, the family decided to raise money for three comfort carts. After family donations to In Honour of the Ones We Love, a yard sale and walk, they raised $5,000 for three carts. “Someone with a small family, it there’s only one or two children, you don’t want to leave their bedside,” said John Meloche’s daughter Rosemary Bondy. “This is the last moment.” In Honour of the Ones We Love has an 18-year history of supporting the community through the acquisition of medical equipment, sponsoring named patient rooms and are notable for their sponsorship of the Kids Beating Cancer Martial Arts Little Ninjas Program.
