City snow crews were busy preparing Wednesday night for the arrival of a potentially messy winter weather system on Thursday morning.
The system is expected to bring snow, sleet and freezing rain early Thursday just prior to the morning commute.
Crews were to pre-salt and apply brine on the E.C. Row Expressway and other major routes overnight.
Equipment will also be on standby to respond should conditions warrant.
Motorists are advised to slow down and drive according to the conditions, leaving extra space for stopping.

Environment Canada is estimating snow and ice pellet accumulation of about five centimetres. The forecast high is 0 C.
The precipitation should end Thursday evening.
