OPP have identified the victim of a fatal house fire in Emeryville as 74-year-old Sonya DeRose.

The cause of the fire at 1581 County Road 22 remains under investigation.

Lakeshore firefighters responded to a 911 call about the address around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The home is located on the southeast corner of the intersection with Beechwood Drive.

Deputy Fire Chief John Quennell said the structure has two units: a single storey residence on one side of the building, and a two-storey residence on the other.

Quennell said that when firefighters arrived, flames were visible in the single-storey unit — primarily its northwestern corner.

Lakeshore fire investigators and representatives of the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office were seen examining the charred portion of the building on Wednesday.

Quennell said on Wednesday afternoon that the investigation by the OFM was awaiting the expertise of an electrical engineer.
