A Leamington man is facing child pornography charges after OPP were alerted by a social media platform about someone uploading an image of sexual abuse.
According to Essex County OPP, the identity of the uploader was unknown at the time of the report from the social media platform.
The OPP’s technological crime unit and child sexual exploitation unit investigated further, ultimately resulting in a search warrant being executed upon a Leamington address on July 31.
Two computer systems and a cellphone were seized. OPP said images of child sexual abuse were found on the devices.
Glen Robert Hawkins, 33, was arrested the same day. He’s been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in Windsor on Aug. 31.
OPP said their investigation is continuing.
