An overheated power bar was to blame for the fire in a home on County Road 9 on Sunday night, says the Amherstburg fire department.
Damage has been estimated at $20,000. According to investigators, the fire started in a bedroom on the second floor of the house when a power bar ignited some clothing.
It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the flames, which happened around 5 p.m. at a single-family dwelling in the 8500 block of County Road 9.
No one was hurt. The road needed to be temporarily closed while firefighters from two stations dealt with the incident.
